Ok it’s time! Norseman is now upon me! Tomorrow we head for heathrow, if the government have allocated any lanes to general public during the Olympics.
As anyone will tell you that travels to races; the night before you travel can be one hell of a mental roller coaster!
For me the Norseman course is really hilly but not too technical. Last week I made a decision I would ride the time trial bike. Tonight, I walked into the garage, took one look at my road bike and started to lose the plot!
Am I making the right decision? I had a bad ride on Sunday, what if I get there and I make the wrong decision? Well it’s tough! It’s man up time and negativity does go through your head. But you sometimes need to take 10 mins on your own. Think back to some great rides, some great climbs, days you were flying and had loads left in the tank. Then you know you have made the right decision!
And if you get out there and you truly have made the wrong decision? Laugh, knuckle down and enjoy the day, work hard and add it to the experience bank! Life’s too short to dwell on what is the right and wrong decision when you are looking at stunning scenery, in a country I dreamt I would never visit, having a true adventure!
